We evaluate

We provide a tool for organisational self-assessment in the ethical use of AI data and systems that goes far beyond the application of ethical use checklists, especially in light of the new EU AI legislation (AI Act).

Why? Because through the new PIO Model on Obligations and Rights we assess the adequacy or otherwise of systems and data to regulatory requirements and international standards in response to a number of critical considerations:

On AI innovation: Checklists can guide developers to integrate ethical considerations into the AI innovation design and implementation process through a structured framework of ethical considerations and implications. The result can lead to more innovative approaches that not only meet regulatory requirements, but also offer competitive and best practice advantages aligned with ethical and societal expectations.

On complexity and unintended consequences: The checklists address issues about AI systems that may be complex, with the potential for unintended consequences, and which may not be immediately obvious. In this sense, they help developers and stakeholders to consider a wide range of potential impacts such as those related to transparency, fairness, accountability or privacy.

On technical trust and societal trust: Establishing clear ethical guidelines through checklists can help build this dual trust through their widespread adoption. Without them, it is much more difficult to build trust in the systems being developed and deployed, as there will be no alignment with societal values and ethical principles.

On legal compliance and accountability: The checklists can serve as a guide and starting point for organisations to systematically assess and document compliance with applicable regulations, which can mitigate legal risks. While the use of the PIO Model is not sufficient to ensure compliance with the IA Act and other applicable regulations, it does support their development and compliance through verification.

On preventive measures: Checklists can act as preventive measures, helping to identify and mitigate ethical risks before they materialise. This proactive approach can help and benefit all public and private organisations in the development, where appropriate, of AI, avoiding controversy, legal challenges and reputational damage.

We accompany

We offer you the possibility of accompanying the assessment process in order to carry out the most effective possible verification of legal regulations and ethical recommendations through international standards. This means that you can ask our technical staff to accompany you in the self-assessment process taking into account your needs.

This accompaniment is offered in two main modalities. On the one hand, as a detailed guidance service in the application of the PIO Model of an AI project in operation. On the other hand, by means of continuous accompaniment in the application of the new PIO Model in an AI project that is in the design or development phase and that, at the same time, also needs the final implementation or execution. Obviously, in the latter case, the accompaniment refers to the life cycle of an IA project, which implies a longer guidance to ensure that each stage follows the established norms and standards.

The one-off or on-going support service is designed to support a comprehensive assessment to help you identify and mitigate any potential risks associated with the use of AI and its data, taking into account the 7 principles of the PIO Model. This service includes consultancy sessions, specific training and preparation of documents and reports to help you implement the regulations and standards taking into account the specificities of the AI technology and its context of use or implementation.

Please note that these services are subject to a fee, to reflect the dedication and expertise of our technical team, as well as the added value that the accompanied assessment brings to your project. Fees will be determined according to the scope and complexity of the assessment required, always ensuring value for money.

We advise

We offer you the possibility to receive personalised feedback after the self-assessment process without the need for an accompanying service. This feedback will be based on a consultancy service and provides expert advice and guidance on various areas related to the design, development, implementation, monitoring or all phases to ensure that the AI project adheres to best practices and ethical and legal standards.

This personalised feedback and consultancy service is ideal for those who want an expert external assessment to complement their self-assessment process. Our technical team, together with our expert partners, will review the results of the self-assessment to provide you with specific and practical recommendations to help you achieve your compliance and excellence objectives.

Among the advisory services are follow-up sessions to ensure that the recommendations given are being implemented and that the desired results are being achieved. This follow-up includes further consultation and ongoing feedback to monitor progress, not only to ensure compliance with international regulations and standards, but also to minimise known and unknown risks. Finally, we also provide strategic advice and technical guidance to organisations to develop effective strategies to implement AI systems in a responsible and sustainable manner.

Please note that this service is subject to fees, to reflect the dedication and expertise of our technical team and collaborators. Fees will be determined according to the scope and complexity of the consultancy service, always ensuring optimal value for money.

We train

We offer you different types of general or specialised training according to your needs and concerns.

The training courses are designed as a short course, ranging from 2 to 4 hours, adaptable according to specific needs and areas of application. In addition, training courses are available in face-to-face or online format, with interactive lectures, case studies, group discussions and practical projects to reinforce learning and application.

Below you will find an outline of the contents of the short course:

Short Course (2-4 hours)

  1. Introduction to the ethical uses of AI (45 min).
  2. Regulatory framework and international standards (45 min).
  3. Tools and methodologies for ethical evaluation of AI (1 hour).
  4. Practical workshop through the PIO Model (1 hour).

We can also design ad hoc technical training courses to meet your organisation’s specific requirements towards ethical uses of AI. These ad hoc courses can be highly customised to address specific topics relevant to your organisation, such as transparency, privacy or bias mitigation. They can also include sessions dedicated to the analysis of case studies specific to your organisation, allowing you to work directly on your real projects and challenges under the guidance of our experts.

Please note that training and technical capacity building courses are subject to fees. Fees will be determined according to the type of course (short or ad hoc), the number of participants, and whether they are delivered in face-to-face or online format.
